Robbie's Story
Our precious son left this world on December 11, 2006 after a six day battle with an Arterio-Venous Malformation (AVM) in his brain. It came mercilessly out of nowhere, with out a single sign. Before this happened, Robbie was a perfectly healthy, strong, happy, loving, intelligent and active young man. He dreamt of growing up to be a professional skateboarder, moving to San Diego and owning a yellow Lamborghini. He was such an amazing person. He was so magnetic and brought out the best in people. The skate park dream came about in October of 2006, when we vacationed in Gulf Shores, Alabama. This ended up being the best vacation of our lives. As soon as we got to there Robbie tried to figure out where the skate shops were, and where he could ride. After some research Robbie found a local shop, so we went there with his board in tow. Once there, Robbie bought new trucks for his board, and a few stickers to slap on his helmet and ramps. We found out that a new public skate park had just opened. Robbie was excited and thought it would be a good opportunity to try out his new trucks. We took him to the park, and he had so much fun. He loved the fact that the skate park was free, outdoors and opened to the community. Robbie was inspired to get a park in our town. Shortly before his battle with the AVM, he began a letter to the Mayor of Social Circle. He also planned on getting a petition signed by parents and skaters. Robbie was not able to see his dream become a reality, but our family friends and the community are determined to make it happen. This park will be in honor of our son, but it will also honor the love and friendship that he had with our community. Thank you for your interest in Robbie's Story.
